People who hassle others do it because they think they're stronger. If we act like we're in control, they might not be so sure they can get away with hassling us.
When someone is hassling us, it can make our life a misery. It is important to talk to someone we trust about what is happening. Family, friends, teachers and others in the community are ready to help if we are getting hassle.
The first thing to do is walk away from the "hard man". Try to imagine walking away from a friend instead - that way our body language is more confident and we don't look like we're scared or weak.
Sometimes we can deal with hassle by being clever or funny about it. Sometimes just telling someone to stop can be enough. If you see someone getting hassle it can help if you stick up for them. Just make sure this won't make the problem worse if you do.
Asking for help is not being weak or giving in. In fact it takes a lot of strength and courage. People of all ages find it difficult to ask for help, not just young people.
